Hey guys! Oh wait, I only have one follower........Anyways, I've decided to update my blog. Today was a pretty average day, until my dad called and said that we were going out for dinner, my sister wasn't going, so I had to have a meal with him alone, I always dreaded eating with my dad ALONE. Everytime I do, it always ends up with him asking me how's school and hows studies, makes me feel like that is all he wanted out of me.
Today was special, he talked about how he was going to retire in about 5 years, it somehow made me feel sad, what was he gonna do all day if he doesn't work? Hearing my dad talking about retirement made me feel like he is going to leave planet earth, like its the end. The conversation about his retirement somehow led to him talking about when he started to work. He started working at the age of 18, he went to Singapore for army camp, he started as a recruit and worked his way up to Corporal with 2 strips. The military gave my dad everything he needed, so working for RM60 per month didn't seem that bad to him, as he gained his ranks, the money increased to RM120, RM 240 and so on, but it didn't go far. He told me he was there for 3 and a half years, when he called it quits. But he told me he signed up for a 6 year contract with the military there. He broke his contract and went back to Malaysia, because he was frustrated. He told me National Service in Singapore was compulsory for all male citizens they had to be in NS for at least 2 years, and all the friends he made in the first 2 years was all slowly going away, away from my dad's life in military camp. He was frustrated with all his friends that was going away and making new ones who will just do the same. So he decided to escape his life in camp and return to Malaysia, doing that was illegal and he would be arrested if he ever step foot back on Singaporean soil.
After returning for 6-9 years, he had to go to Singapore, so he sent a letter to the Singaporean Embassy in KL, saying that he was sorry that he went AWOL (Absent Without Official Leave) and some bullshit about his dad being sick. After that, a return letter came and he was given a Disciplinary Discharge which meant that he could go back to Singapore, but his rank is gone. Hearing that made me feel sad. (My dad, a corporal.......ex corporal.......oh wait no, his rank is GONE! O_O
Today, I knew more about my dad, and I want to know more, now I know how my interest in guns and military came from, my DAD. :) He could disassemble a M16 blind folded, he is AMAZING, I want to know how my dad looked like when he was buff and in the military. I might actually have the coolest dad in Selangor. :D
To change the story, the other day, I stumble on a funny picture of JB
